This is a comprehensive course covering all aspects of land management.

It runs once a year around June/July.

Morning farm walk and afternoon machinery demonstration.

We will cover - What are your objectives in managing your land? - For production and/or nature, stock? Meeting the regulations and best practice.

Seasonality of tasks.

Ditches - purpose of, regulations, clearing.

Hedges - regulations, trimming/coppicing/laying, growing species.

Ponds

Orchard management - grazing, pruning, protection

Fencing - boundary/watercourses, electric, strip grazing, netting.

Soils - types, testing, poaching, compaction etc.,

Fertilisers/manures - pH, timings, testing, livestock manures.

Grass - growth, seasonality, grazing management.

Clover - red vs white, benefits, nitrogen fixing.

Weed control - thistles, docks, nettles, rushes, sprays, topping, weed wiping.
