What you need to bring: Please feel free to bring a piece of equipment you would like to work on, but advise at time of booking so Ian can be informed/contacted prior to the course.
Looking at;
- Chainsaw
- Strimmer
- Hedge trimmer
- Lawnmower
- Generator.
Differences between 2 stroke and 4 stroke machines, types of fuel and types of lubrication.
Ignition and carburation systems, what to look for and how to test.
Disassembly of example. Cleaning parts and finding the fault.
Reassembling enough to test or start.
Final reassembly and full test.
Basic servicing.
Recoil starters and rewinding the rope.
Belts and pulleys.
Safety switches and electrical starting/charging systems.
Tools required.
Lubricants required
Fuel care.
The course is delivered by Ian Dixon, Dash member of over 20 years and farmer near Okehampton. Ian has a lifetime experience restoring, maintaining and operating old tractors and machinery having grown up on the family farm. In his spare time he also works repairing quad bikes, lawnmowers and chainsaws at Northmoor Garden Machinery in Hatherleigh.
